LIGANA, born in Kigali, Rwanda  as  Pacifique Nshuti Mugemana, is a visionary whose name symbolizes the relentless pursuit of dreams. 

His journey began in 2014 as a photographer, driven by a passion to capture and share the world’s stories. In 2015, he took his first step into the professional world of filmmaking and cinematography, enrolling in university to refine his craft.

By 2018, LIGANA graduated in Multimedia Production from RP-IPRC Kigali, and in 2019, he earned his certification in Aerial Photography (Unmanned Aircraft Operation) from SANAD Academy in the UAE. His travels across Africa—visiting countries such as Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Kenya—and his time spent in creative spaces across the USA, including Los Angeles (home to Hollywood), Boston, and Alabama, have deeply influenced his artistic vision and strengthened his commitment to fostering global creativity.

In Rwanda, LIGANA also immersed himself in various creative spaces, engaging with local hubs of innovation, such as KLab, the Kigali Creative Hub, and the Rwanda Art Museum. These spaces foster a vibrant creative community, and through them, LIGANA connected with emerging filmmakers, musicians, and artists, constantly drawing inspiration from the dynamic cultural landscape of his home country. His experiences in these spaces further fueled his desire to empower and uplift local talent, fueling his commitment to the “OnTheRoad” movement.

Inspired by the idea of empowering youth, LIGANA launched the “OnTheRoad” movement—a platform to inspire the next generation of creatives. Initially starting as an audio recording house for young musicians, OnTheRoad quickly grew into a broader initiative, thanks to the ideas of interns from his filmmaking career, amplifying the voices of Rwanda, East African, and global artists.

LIGANA’s work is recognized internationally, with collaborations with organizations such as the Gates Foundation, Partners In Health, the University of Global Health Equity, and more. In Rwanda, he continues working alongside institutions like the Ministry of Health, the National Health Center of Rwanda, and Ngali Energy Group.
